May/June 2019 Call2Recycle Sales Tax Update
Due to changes in federal and state requirements, effective June 1, 2019, Call2Recycle® will begin collecting tax on sales in the following states: Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina and Texas. No other states are impacted at this time. Stewardship fees are not impacted by this change. Customers that are tax-exempt in the above-mentioned states will need to email customerservice@call2recycle.org to complete the verification process. Steward Spotlight: Acer, Inc.
A Call2Recycle steward since 2006, Acer, Inc. produces several electronic devices, including tablets, laptops and smartphones. We partner with Acer to fulfill their stewardship goals, which include offering customers convenient drop-off locations for their used batteries across North America. From MRF experiences to media headlines, we know that consumer behaviors have a direct and dramatic impact on the recycling industry. According to a recent survey commissioned by Call2Recycle and conducted online by The Harris Poll, many Americans may be ‘wishful recyclers’ in that they place items that won’t get recycled into their bins. This act is unknowingly creating more harm than good by contaminating recyclables, which sends everything to the landfill.
